Effect of Pre-Chamber Parameters on a Low Pressure Dual Fuel Engine

Abstract

With the increasingly serious environmental impact of marine exhaust emissions and the increasingly stringent IMO emission standards, the global demand for clean fuels is increasing. In this paper, an effective 3D simulation model is established for the structural characteristics of a marine low-pressure dual-fuel engine. The effects of pre-chamber structure on engine performance and emissions are explored from the aspects of pre-chamber channel diameter. The diameter of the pre-chamber channel affects the propagation of the flame jet in the combustion chamber. The proper pre-chamber channel diameter is beneficial to improve the stability of flame propagation, improve engine performance and reduce emissions.
