An Optimized Slot Antenna for the Ultra-Wide-Band (UWB) Radar Application
Abstract
An optimized slot antenna has been designed to serve in the ultra-wide-band (UWB) radar system with a center frequency at 300 MHz and a bandwidth from 0.2 to 1 GHz. The parameters of the antenna are with a 2dB time-domain gain, a 30-100Ω impedance, a 10:1 tailing signal/signal peak voltage, and a 35 degrees time domain directed graph (E-plane). The dimensions of the antenna are 450 mm×280 mm×3 mm. We use 9 of this antenna to build the ultra-wide-band (UWB) radar array. Experimental results are in good agreement with the simulation results offered by the commercial software (CST MWS) and suggest that the proposed antenna is suitable for the ultra-wide-band (UWB) radar application.
