Discussion on the Sustainable Development of Environment in the Context of Shale Gas Development

Abstract

With the reduction of the conventional oil and gas resources, the exploration and development of unconventional shale oil and gas resources has attractedwidely attention of scientists, and marine shale gas development in Sichuan Basin has achieved the same achievement as the United States. However, water based or oil based mud drilling fluid during drilling work and water based fracturing fluid or large quantities of water resource during fracturing work will cause potential damage to the local and surrounding environment. Sustainable shale gas development model and environmental protection strategy design will promote the development of shale gas in the economic and environmental protection mode; besides, the combination of pollution materials in shale gas development and local economic development will bring win-win situation of oil industry and local economic harmony.
